About

Annie Neugebauer

Hi! Welcome to my website. I’m a writer, poet, and creative with a penchant for scaring and otherwise moving people. I live in North Texas with my kitties, kiddos, and a husband who’s unusually well-prepared for the zombie apocalypse. When I’m not momming or writing, you can usually find me reading, crafting, and dancing.

I’m a novelist, blogger, nationally award-winning poet, and two-time Bram Stoker Award-nominated short story author with work appearing in more than a hundred publications, such as Cemetery Dance, Apex, Black Static, and Year’s Best Hardcore Horror Volumes 3, 4, and 5. My works have been honorable mentions for Ellen Datlow’s Best Horror of the Year series, the Ladies of Horror Fiction Award, and the Stevens Poetry Manuscript Competition by the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. I’ve also had stories recommended for the Locus Awards and the Shirley Jackson Awards.

I’m a University of Texas at Austin alum, active member of the Horror Writers Association, and a former columnist and instructor for the Writer’s Digest award-winning websites LitReactor and Writer Unboxed. I’ve also served as a founding member and president of my local writers’ group, webmaster for the Poetry Society of Texas, and a speaker at numerous writing events. My agent is Alec Shane at Writers House.

Here on AnnieNeugebauer.com, you’ll find the most up-to-date news about my publications, teaching events, and other writerly things. Like everyone else on the internet, I blog far less than I used to, but make sure you’re subscribed if you’d like to hear first about the really good stuff. Otherwise these days you can mostly find me popping in on Instagram @AnnieNeugebauer.
