Raven Rock

Fallout 3 players will be familiar with this facility. Imagine my surprise when I found out Raven Rock is a real place.

Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC) is a United States government facility, surprisingly on a mountain called Raven Rock in Pennsylvania. Known as the “underground Pentagon” the facility runs more than 38 communications systems for its users, hosting such notable institutions as the Defence Information Systems Agency and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also housing the emergency operations centres for the Army Navy and Air force.

Originally completed in 1953 with further work in 1963, the facility lies some 650 feet below ground, standing a total of 1,529 feet tall. The base has everything you need to survive in event of a attack on American soil including a restaurant, legal services (can’t see why you would need lawyers in the event of the end of the World), a Chapel and many more home comforts.

Many of the facilities activates are of course classified. However for all the confidentiality that Raven Rock insists on, apparently it said a modern thermonuclear warhead would destroy the whole base due to the age of the facility as well as the blast doors being obsolete, which of course if no further construction has happened since 1963, this is entirely possible.

A notable “example” of Raven Rocks use was after the September 11th attacks. It is said that three hours after the terrorist attacks, five helicopters touched down near Raven Rock, with Vice President Dick Cheney in tow, in which he has headed operations concerning his office from the underground “city” at Raven Rock following the “destruction” of the Pentagon and has done since.

Raven Rock Underground Command Center (Site R) More photos of Raven Rock.I know the Illuminati are a real organization,I don't know if they plan on taking over the world,but if that was the plan i am sure Raven Rock or any of the other contingency bases would not be used to run the world.If there were danger of it being taken over they would blow up the base before they would let the enemy take possession of it.

Odd, that second pic looks like the entrance to the base in SG-1 series....

Haha! Fallout 3 was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread; excellent game.

In my opinion if the New World Order was going to be stationed anywhere, specifically in the event of total war, I think it would be NORAD considering that its main purpose is aerospace defense. Plus it's much more modern.

Where the NWO would locate their "centre of operations" would surely be directly affected by what level of control they already have?

IF they already have a hand in various Governments and other establishments then there is nothing to stop them using Raven Rock as much as Corsham Computer Centre here in the UK or many other worldwide establishments.

IF they don't and they tried to take the world by force (I know, not the most appropriate word, but it is 7am here) then I could quite see the worlds defence leaders ordering lockdown, but not destruction.


In hindsight of posting however, I would very much believe that they already have an establishment already in place prior to any disclosure that they are in charge.

It seemed prudent to build a 'safe-house' for America's Survival at the time...
I don't think anyone at that time fully realized the catastrophic effects a Full-Out Thermonuclear War would have on the Continuation of Civilization like...
Earth's Civilization would pretty much be blown back into the 'Stone-age'...

Here's a blurb regarding Raven Rock in Pennsylvania:

"The initial concept for the Alternate Joint Communications Center originated in 1948.
After the Soviet Union detonated its first nuclear weapon in 1949 [an 'Atom Bomb'... Not THE BOMB i.e. a thermonuclear 'Hydrogen BOMB'~rore], a high priority was established for the Joint Command Post to be placed in a protected location with close proximity to Washington, D.C. for swift relocation of the National Command Authorities and the Joint Communications Service.
In 1950, President Truman approved Raven Rock Mountain, Pennsylvania, as part of Camp Albert Ritchie, Maryland. This new site was named the Alternate Joint Communications Center (AJCC) Site R (R for Raven Rock).
In 1951, construction of the facility began, and in 1953, the AJCC Site R became operational.

Interesting though its still apparantly in use. If its true no updates have been done to the complex since 1963, then it's plausable it's outter defences are no longer able to withstand attack. There are better facilities out there that are more secret and better secured which would be perfect to run a country from incase of an attack.

The question is of course. If they are saying it has not been updated since 1963, does it really mean:

A) They are telling the truth
B) They are telling the truth that they have not updated the original structure, but are not telling us they have extended it
C) They are lieing

Cold war inspired a number of these.

Everybody was just waiting for those ICBM's to start raining down.

Cant remember the name or exact location now, think it was Va.
But one was constucted at a hotel in the Appalachian Mts.
Entrance was in the basement.
It was supposed to be a secret one, but it got "outted" and supposedly decomissioned.

Maybe they will come in handy to ride out the end of 2012.
