ABOARD Rafting

"White Water Cocktail"
Summer 2008 week end package

version française

2 days of outdoor activities to discover the joys of white water, with the natural setting of the Verdon region as your background.

More than just a breath of fresh air under the Provence sun, this programme involves discovering part of the Verdon Gorges, as well as a canyon closeby Castellane.
The flow of the Verdon is regulated by a dam. In the summer, the days of water release where the flow is at a minimum level, enables "water rambling" on the section of the Verdon which is not usually accessible by boat.
The rope course takes place in our "Adventure forest" situated near Castellane. The canyoning takes place in the St. Auban canyon, 40 mn away from Castellane.

Activities

* Water rambling: half-day trip (floating and swimming to explore the most secret part of the Verdon Canyon),

* Cano-rafting: half-day (inflatable 2-men canoe where the team paddles autonomously),

* Canyoning: half-day (exploring a canyon, by swimming and jumping in pools, abseiling down waterfalls).

Programme

Saturday morning: forest high rope course

Meet at 9:30 at our rope course "Adventure Forest", 5 mn away from Castellane (see access map).

Move from tree to tree on a series of varied challenges at a height of 2 to 12 meters above ground. Test your balance on Nepalese bridges, slide on death slides, thread your way through hanging barrels - all of this in complete safety. All you need to do is to put on a harness, follow a few simple safety instructions, and all the fun and excitement will be yours!

A total of 50 varied and progressive challenges await you in the forest.

This real forest adventure is performed in an exceptionnally beautiful 3 ha. site planted with pine trees and broadleaved-trees, and is bordered with cliffs overlooking the Verdon river.

Saturday afternoon: water rambling

Meet at 12:00 am at the latest at our office in Castellane.

Then, meet at 1:00 am at our rope course "Adventure Forest", 5 mn away from Castellane (see access map) for a water-ramble half-day trip that will allow us to explore the Verdon from the Couloir Samson down to the Labyrinths.
Equiped with a wet-suit, a helmet and a life-jacket, we will let the current carry us gently along the river and take us to discover the Verdon's best-kept mineral secrets. We will also jump and swim in clear water, or walk around rapids, fallen trees or any obstacle which we might encounter. Thanks to this simple technique, the naturals beauties hidden at the bottom of the Gorges will not escape our eyes, and we will enjoy a refreshing and exciting moment. Once out of the water, we will walk for 20 minutes on the Sentier Martel trail to return to our vehicles at the Couloir Samson.

Sunday afternoon: canyoning

Then, meet at 2:00 pm at St. Auban for a half-day canyoning trip (see access map). Note that the journey from the rope course site to the canyoning site takes about 45 mn.
At St. Auban, the canyoning guide is there to welcome you. He gives a safety talk, introduces you to the environment and to the abseiling techniques, and hands out your equipment. St. Auban canyon always has a good level of water and promises to give you plenty of opportunities to swim, slide on natural slides and jump.
The activity begins with two short slides. A 6 m. jump brings you to the point where the canyon becomes deeper and narrower. You then climb down a few obstacles and reach the top of a beautiful waterfall which you cross by sliding on a tight rope attached at the other side of the canyon. A 5 m. jump follows, and the canyon opens up again. After that point, you can enjoy a few jumps - up to 10 m. if you wish to - and a few more exciting slides still await you.
Once at the bottom of the canyon, a short walk will be necessary to return to your vehicles.
