Pyro Development
other techniques

Here is an example of a B&W film processed with a pyrogallol-based developer. The brownish colour is due to the "stain" effect of the developer. Pyro developer is one of the oldest developers and now there is a renewed interest thanks to the new formula devised by Gordon Hutchings. The main advantage of this process is to avoid highlight saturation during film development. For some FAQs on this subject take a look at the Bostick & Sullivanwebsite. The pyro developer is highly toxic and should be handled with much care.

For this film I used a combination of a PMK developer and a B&W film, both manufactured by Bergger (France).
