Here is an example of a B&W film processed with a pyrogallol-based
developer. The brownish colour is due to the "stain" effect of the
developer. Pyro developer is one of the oldest developers and now
there is a renewed interest thanks to the new formula devised by Gordon
Hutchings. The main advantage of this process is to avoid highlight
