So many people associate Ari Vatanen with Peugeot’s revolutionary four-wheel-drive 205 Turbo 16. For others the lasting memory of him is at the wheel of a rear-wheel-drive Ford Escort RS 1800.

Among some two dozen distinct types of competition cars Ari has had his own favourites.  Some of them he unashamedly admits to viewing through the eyes of an enthusiast. A touch of rose-tinted glasses, perhaps, but why not? The same enthusiasm Ari expressed in his driving comes through in these appraisals. And so does the sincerity that became his trademark.
