Troubleshooting

If you run into problems please visit the official Altitude Server Forums and use the search feature to find a solution. The most common problems caused by routers and firewalls are discussed below.

The server_launcher uses UDP port 27275 to check for updates and each server sends game data over the next available UDP port (eg 27276, 27277, etc). You can customize these ports using the server_configurator. You must ensure that all of these ports are open and properly forwarded on your router and firewall.

Router instructions:

We recommend enabling UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on your router. You can usually log in to your router by typing your router's IP (ex: 192.168.1.1) into your address bar. You can then configure UPnP under the Administration tab. For more information on enabling UPnP on your router, visit your router manufacturer's website. A few of the most popular router web sites are listed here: Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, Belkin.

If your router doesn't support UPnP you will have to manually forward all UDP ports your servers are using. Visit http://portforward.com for detailed, router-specific port forwarding instructions.

Technical Details

  • The server_configurator and server_launcher tools allow you to run multiple servers in a single process.
  • Servers require approximately 3 KB/sec upstream bandwidth per connected client.
  • Servers automatically update and relaunch when a new version is released.
