Hello, I am new to the forum, and doing some research on the origin of my 843 engine. Is it possible to determine what car and year my engine was originally shipped with? My engine number is 843 7 13/ 130004054. The PO told me this was from an R 17 Gordini, but I have doubts about this information.
Thanks to any who may be able to help me uncover the mystery.

The PO was correct. The 843/7/13 motor would originally have been fitted to a US spec Renault 17 Gordini (Renault type reference R1326), from the era 1979-1980. 1.647cc, Bosch fuel injection with 9.3:1 compression ratio.

John and Simon,
Thanks for your response. John, in the Renault database you had provided a link, there were several 843 7xx references. However, no 843 7 13. I have not been able to find anything with the 7 designation. Simon, as you say, and I assumed, the engine was once fuel injected, but at some point it was removed, possibly when the PO installed it in my Europa. He also said it was a 1979 confirming your dates.
Simon, you had written a very detailed response in 2006 on this forum regarding Gordini engines. Thanks for that because it provided a great deal of background information.
Any other reference data you gentlemen might have is most appreciated.
I've attached a better picture.

regards,
