Materials: Solid Honduras mahogany body and neck; solid rosewood fingerboard, solid bone nut.

Hardware: 100% original chrome hardware, including adjustable mini-humbucking pickup; Kluson Sealfast banjo style tuners; ABR-1 Tunematic bridge and stud tailpiece; gold bonnet tone and volume knobs; white beveled pickguard with Firebird logo; adjustable truss rod.

Notes: The original 'reverse body' Gibson Firebird I was introduced in mid 1963 and produced for barely two years until it was discontinued in May of 1965. One of Gibson's most distinctive body designs, the reverse Firebird became a collector's icon, remaining out of production for over three decades. A one-time reissue by the Gibson Custom Shop lasted less than a year in 1991-2, and the model has never been seen again to this date. This rare example features a single mini-humbucking pickup, Kluson Sealfast banjo style tuners and a chrome stop tailpiece. Favored by blues and slide players like Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Johnny Winter, the Firebird offers a sleek neck profile, and plenty of sustain from it's contoured solid mahogany body.

This rare bird is in immaculate 100% original condition, with contoured figured mahogany body and all factory hardware. The instrument appears virtually unplayed, and the original sunburst finish is in gleaming condition. The guitar plays impeccably, with smooth low action over classic mid-60's medium jumbo frets. A most welcome addition is the full 1 11/16" nut width, making the fingerboard distinctly easier on the hand than the ultra-skinny originals. One of Gibson's most dramatic design statements ever, and one of the great blues axes of the 60's, the Firebird has demonstrated an appeal that's far outlasted it's brief tenure in the Gibson catalog.

Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut inspected and recut as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

Case: Original brown rectangular Gibson plush lined hardshell case.
