The kennel
My passion for Labradors has grown so much and I therefore decided to start a breeding programme. In order to achieve a high standard I gave myself some aims to follow and I have based all my work in the hope of achieving them.
First of all, I would like to state that when I decided to breed
Labradors, I did not want to just produce puppies: my object
was, and still is, to select typical subjects, with a good
structure, conformation and most importantly, good temperament.
All these points are typical of this breed. It is this that has
made the Labrador Retriever one of the most loved and
appreciated breeds in the world.
I believe it is essential to avail myself to the suggestions and
experiences of other breeders. I would like to thank all the
people that have and continue to support me, criticize me and
give me advice in the hard work of breeding.
In my selection of breeding stock and in my choice of stud dogs, I always use the genetic tests that are available, and look for well balanced dog with sound conformation. I also give a lot of importance to the study of several genealogic lines, in particularly, the North European lines. DNA information about colour, and also about a particular form of PRA and narcolepsy is available. Further eye tests, and x-ray tests for hip and elbow dysplasia are also available. The X-ray method for hip and elbow dysplasia is official after one year of age. This is useful information for breeders, and they should always ensure that breeding stock is tested in this way, to avoid matings with mediocre dogs which may lead to health problems in the future. This is, however, only be a little help for breeders. For a true and complete picture it would be necessary to have the results of all the relatives but it's impossible at the moment.
