BetEd.com Shut Down

On May 23, 2011, BetEd.com, an online gambling site, closed with its domain name seized by the FBI Government for running an illegal gambling business and money laundering. Several other sportsbooks are changing their domain to .ag or .eu, so the US government can’t seize their domain or .com for example. Bodog has already adjusted to Bodog.eu and Bookmaker.com, which is on the list below, has changed to bmaker.ag.

Several other gambling and poker domains were seized including:

2Betsdi.com
Funtimebingo.com
Goldenarchcasino.com
Truepoker.com
Betmaker.com
Betgrandesports.com
Doylesroom.com
Betehorse.com
Bookmaker.com.

If you are wondering what betting sites still accept US players, we recommend the following two:

bodog icon Bodog.com

betonline round icon BetOnline.com

Payment processors seem to always be a main issue in these cases, where funds are funneled through the US in undesirable fashion, which cause money laundering issues as an example. I would imagine all of the sportsbooks will continue to operate, especially with their offshore accounts in which they are licensed and have no issues with payment processing. The issue seems to be that these sportsbooks are located in another legal gambling country, but the payment processing systems in place are walking a fine line in who and where they are excepting and distributing payment.

This seems to be another scare tactic by government officials in light of the Black Friday where PokerStars, FullTilt, etc. had their domain name seized. The indictments and seizures were announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. ThrillX, a software company producing online sportsbook and casino software in British Columbia, Canada, and BMX Entertainment which operates six sports betting sites, are two of the players involved in the seizure warrants.

As new information comes about, we will try updating everyone as we learn more. In the meantime, there are still several reputable gambling sites and sportsbooks accepting players from the USA.
