Scientific background

The Higss particle or Higgs-Boson is an elementary particle that is considered an essential component of the standard model of particle physics. Therefore, huge efforts have been undertaken for its discovery, particularly at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) of the European Center of Nuclear Research CERN.
However, the standard model with its extensive complications has become something hardly trustworthy. And the proof of the Higgs relies on a somehow bizarre method, see Why bet?
