Eclipse Unable to Read AndroidManifest.xml

New to this. Have already set up the development PC to the best of my knowledge. Have Eclipse SDK 3.6.2 and installed the Android SDK packages. Android SDK also installed on the machine. Created a test app with buzztouch. Downloaded the code and followed the instruction for compiling in Eclipse. Tried multiple times and every time Eclipse returned an error regarding not able to read the AndroidManifest.xml file at various locations. Here is one for example: [2011-05-17 08:02:09 - com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.project.AndroidManifestHelper] Unable to read C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platforms\android-4\samples\AndroidManifest.xml: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platforms\android-4\samples\AndroidManifest.xml (The system cannot find the file specified) Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Have you successfully compiled and launched ANY Android project on your development machine? There are countless posts about this, Eclipse is very difficult to setup (for some visitors). Find the video in your control panel about getting your first Android app compiled (Hello World) and see if it helps clarify some things. I can assure you that the issue you're asking about is related to the Eclipse configuration and not the source-code you downloaded for your app. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've watched the video you suggested. I am able to successfully compile the Hello World app; however, there is at least one difference in my set up. My Eclipse doesn't seem to have the Google API:4 as a Build Target. Everything defaults to the Android 1.6 API. While it compiles the Hello World app, it won't work with Buzztouch. Any suggestion on how I can download the Google API as an option for the Target Build? Thanks much.

Update for the previous post. I tried looking at the Available Packages in the Android SDK and AVD Manager and found some Google APIs as Third Party Add-ons. I tried installing them but was told that access to download was denied. Is this the proper way to download the API? If not, please let me know. Thanks.

So close - awesome progress for a newcomer. You'll be on you're way soon enough. See this to get the Google API's http://code.google.com/android/add-ons/google-apis/installing.html

I have a feeling it is my system's setting that prevents the API from installing on it. Here is line from the error log: Downloading Google APIs by Google Inc., Android API 4, revision 2 File not found: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\temp\google_apis-4_r02.zip (Access is denied) It is not giving access to put the downloaded content in C drive. I know this isn't the right place for this kind of help, but if anyone knows of a help page to change my pc's setting on program access please let me know. Thanks much.

Failed. Can't get Eclipse to run. Actually deleted the initial install of Eclipse and installed as a fresh copy hoping to be able to download the Google API from initial setup. This time around can't even get past setting up the ADT. Returned the error upon installing the ADT: Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. Software being installed: Android Development Tools 10.0.1.v201103111512-110841 (com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.feature.group 10.0.1.v201103111512-110841) Missing requirement: Android Development Tools 10.0.1.v201103111512-110841 (com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.feature.group 10.0.1.v201103111512-110841) requires 'org.eclipse.gef 0.0.0' but it could not be found This is beyond me. Game over.
