I thought that this would be helpfull it might even turn into a sticky, well I thought it be cool to name an instrument and the best VST for it, considering how many times threads like this pop up, it be cool to have a list that we can agree on or at least come to some sort of agreement upon.

Piano - Synthology Ivory
Violin - ?
Saxophone - ?

and etc.... so yea respond and lets try to make somewhat of a real list we can all reference.

hmmm
strings - east west symphonic
basic synth - zebra 2
brass - hypersonic 2 (best ive heard so far)

yeah it is, but its like 15mb so yeah
:S thats what i meant by basic
but it is cool
and the presets are hot

Since when does a plugin's file size measure it's "complexity"? :D

Another vote for Zebra 2, an approving nod towards the Filterscape bundle and some unadultered love for Tassman.

i dont even know any more :(
haha, nah i only use zebra for its presets, thats why
but it looks crazy in terms of the sound creation, a little too complicated for me at this point

all native instruments stuff (reaktor, fm8, battery 3, absynth 3, kontakt 2, b4 2, etc)

all specstrasonic stuff (trilogy, atmosphere, stylus rmx)

AAS (lounge lizard)

Never seen a thread like this, interesting idea. I haven't had much experience with the best VST's but with my experience I would say:

Guitar: Real Guitar

for me it's the sample based vst's.

M-Tron
Nostalgia
RealGuitar

outlandish?
spacey, atmostpheric type?

exactley. a lot of people don't like the presets, though. i think there ok, and some of them are good, but you can tweak a lot of the sounds to make some awesome stuff.

I looove PHILHARMONIK ... basically it's the expensive ILIO MIROSLAV sound collection of yesteryear, but a lot cheaper and with crazy RAM, Polyphony, and a studio-class reverb thrown in...

Best strings, orchestra sounds, etc...

lately i've been using my Applied Acoustics Systems VST's.
ultra analog, lounge lizard, string studio, & tassman. I think they all sound excellent!

ha! since the primary consideration for obtaining them comes down to bandwidth and HD space, for a lot of people.

i was wondering if anyone else picked up on the subtely of that... of course krushing is all over it.

and on that note, as krushing said, filterscape rules. it is one of the unsung badasses out there, imo. and i am eternally grateful to the big k. man for talkin it up so much.

check out 'triplecheese' by the same guy. its free. badass.

peace.
