How to Create a Melting Apple Effect In Photoshop

In this simple and easy tutorial we will learn how to add a melting effect to the apple image. We have mostly used blending options to create the melting effect.

Step1

Lets start the tutorial by downloading an apple image from http://www.celestin.com/images/apple.png or try to get similar image from net.

Next, select the apple Leaf using magnetic lasso tool.

Cut the selected leaf and paste it on the new layer and rename the layer as 'Apple leaf'.

Step2

Next step is to add a central glow effect, for this create a new layer and name it as 'Glow' draw a circle using marquee tool. Apply a feather effect using CTL+ALT+D keep the feather value as 25px.

Fill the selected circle with white color using paint bucket tool and set the opacity setting to 60% as shown in following image.

Step3

Right click on 'Apple' layer and choose blending option. Apply 'Bevel and Emboss' effect using following settings.

Apply drop shadow effect to the same 'Apple' layer. Keep the setting as shown in the following image.

Step 4

Lets give the bevel and emboss effect to the apple leaf now. Right click on 'Apple leaf' layer and choose blending option. Apply 'Bevel and Emboss' effect using following settings.

Step 5

Now lets start melting the apple. To show the melting effect, draw a shape as shown in image using pen tool. Keep the color code of the shape as #61bb46.

Right click on the shape layer and choose blending option. Apply 'Bevel and Emboss' effect using following settings.

Next, apply the drop shadow effect to the shape using following settings.

Step 6

Create one more melting shape as shown in the image towards the left side of the apple, follow same procedure to create the shape using pen tool. Keep the color code of the shape as #fcc83e.

Apply bevel and emboss effect to the second shape using following settings.

Apply the drop shadow effect to the second shape using following settings.

To make the melting of apple look more prominent create few more melting shapes with different colors a shown in the image. For blue shape keep the color code as #0799d4. For orange color keep the keep the color code as #ed982e and for purple shape keep the color code as #b270b2.

Apply 'Bevel and Emboss' and 'Drop shadow' effects to the new shapes that we have just created.

•	For blue shape in the 'Bevel and Emboss' effect, keep the shadow mode color as #006690.

•	For orange shape in the 'Bevel and Emboss' effect, keep the shadow mode co lour as #735400.

•	For purple shape in the 'Bevel and Emboss' effect, keep the shadow mode co lour as #934093.

and your melting apple is ready.
