A Royal Makeover
Do you happen to be unsatisfied with the design of a certain character of the franchise, or do you just have a kick out of illustrating them differently from their canon depiction?
If you are either or both of these options, this contest is for you!
So come grab your painting gourds & give a canon character a royal makeover!
You could, for instance, make the proportions of a character (from a sequel or spinoff) more accurate to the original movie's setting, with slightly more natural proportions, colors & whatnot.
Let your creativity light up the whole kingdom!

The Lion Guard
Here's a belated entry for the Archive-Wide contest that consists of converting canon characters into sparkle characters.
Chose Makini from The Lion Guard as my guinea pig cuz, I dunno, her personality & overall design seemed to work for such a drastic change lol (Plus monkes are more unique than loins & yeens)
Hopefully I can at least be in second place for I have a super cool idea for the next contest.

Prologue
Hello!!
I'm not dead, there were a lot of things that happened in the last few weeks. This explains my inactivity.
There has been a death in my distant family. My main computer went to the technician for a last minute repair. I had doctor appointments. Finally, the summer season is starting, which means work has started again for me!
I will try to post the pages every two weeks! It's just complicated at the moment and thank you for your understanding!

My entry for the Let's Add a Little SPARKLE contest By xSentientStardustx. I had a serious picture of Shenzi sketched out in my folder already but this was way more fun. She's eye searing green with one edgy black wing because I was playing Crisis Core lately lol I even made up a cringe AU backstory for her, basically the hyenas have been kicked out of paradise and await the arrival of their messiah to lead them to the promised land. Whether that's Shenzi or Scar is up to you ;)

Drawings of my OCs
My OCs Leti and Lia sharing a sisterly nuzzle. I adopted Leti from eshe_tlkbr on Instagram and asked if I could draw them together as my payment.

Trades/Commissions/Gifts
Finally something I can upload here!
Did this commission last year for a good friend, Dizzy Hellfire! I designed her as a maned lioness eons ago so she asked me to draw her playing guitar.
Of course I had to toss in an orca for good measure!

I LOVED the concept.
I think its an interesting alternative to why Simba hates her so much... if there was no Kopa in the first place.
Anyhoo, theres a non-cropped version on my deviantart... as well as a longer description if you'd like.
by Daanzi
What I find particularly interesting about this one is that here we have two wildly different lioness character designs, in Sarabi and Zira, who are rarely if ever present on screen together. They share many of the same design features as Mufasa and Scar, as envisioned by two very different animators working independently, and just as those two characters were forced on-screen together such that their all-but-incompatible designs had to coexist visually, here we have a recapitulation of that same artistic challenge. Daanzi has risen to that challenge and made Sarabi and Zira seem to inhabit the same world, despite how far apart from each other their features and visual inspirations are.
I am also impressed by the choice of composition, with Zira rising triumphantly over the prone Sarabi, and how the latter's placement horizontally across the bottom of the piece with her back to us is suggestive of unseen injuries while coyly hiding from us any explicit details. It's a challenging angle from which to show Sarabi's facial expression too, but with the body language and her solidity even while dying, we are given everything we need to know to see the hollowness of Zira's victory in the long run.
