Diena Thompson found herself living every parent’s worst nightmare when her 7 year old daughter went missing on October 19, 2009. Two days later, in a Georgia landfill, Somer’s body was discovered. The community felt an immediate call to action. Fundraisers were coordinated to aid Diena and her family, as well as to raise money for the reward fund.

Multi-platinum, International Recording Artists Molly Hatchet has played an integral part in supporting Diena Thompson. The band donated items for a silent auction and orchestrated a benefit concert, Molly Hatchet’s biggest contribution to this case is the song that was written in Somer Thompson’s memory. “Fly on Wings of Angels” is a beautiful ballad that opens with Somer’s older sister, Abby, singing “You are my Sunshine”, Somer’s favorite song. The song will be the first single on the bands new album titled “JUSTICE” which will be released May 28th, 2010 in Europe and June 1, 2010 in North America.

The Molly Hatchet Band will be performing at The Jacksonville Landing on March 27th, 2010 and brings home to a stronger and unified community …Somer’s Song…Fly on Wings of Angels with Abby Thompson singing in memory of her sister.

FLY ON WINGS OF ANGELS

(Abby sings in memory of her sister Somer)

You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You´ll never know dear how much I love you
Please don´t take my Sunshine Away....

Vision of a baby child a blessed event in our lives
So warm and tender so sweet and kind
When I looked at you I see my life through my mamas eyes
I held you oh so close to my heart when you laughed or cried
But it ended way too early no one could ever answer why
we bow our heads and say our prayers to Somer in the night time sky

Fly on Wings of Angels a shining star on a cold and rainy night
Somer`s with the Angels so she´ll never have to say goodbye

This single has touched America’s heart and brought forth an awareness that community involvement can make a difference by bringing people together and in helping one another in time of tragedy and seeking…JUSTICE !!
