Frequently Asked Questions

Hey! Please check here before submitting a question about the content of the site. I may have answered your question before.

Q. Where did you get this theme/what’s the name of your theme/how can I get this theme?

A. I found the theme in the Tumblr Theme Garden, and it is called Jessica Fletcher. Click here to install it on your tumblelog.

Q. Where do you find all these questions?

A. When I started this tumblelog, I would find about 75% of the content myself; but since it’s become more popular, I get enough submissions that I don’t have to go out and find them. Sometimes I will just for fun, but I don’t need to anymore.

Q. What do you use to put ads on this blog?

A. I use AdBrite and AdSense. AdBrite pays considerably more.

Q. How do you connect two Tumblr’s together/how did you get that little icon under the main Y! icon?

A. It’s not connecting two separate tumblelogs. You need to create a new tumblelog that allows members, and when they post something, or submit something it will show the main tumblr’s icon, and then the member or submitter’s icon on the corner. If you are on your main tumblelog, and you click on the little arrow to the right of the name of your tumblelog on the dashboard, you should see a tab that says “create a new blog.” Click it, and there you go. You now have a new tumblelog linked to your original.

Q. Do you think these questions are real/how many of them are trolls?

A. Some are. Most are not. Of the questions posted to this site? Probably 50 - 75%. Of the questions posted to Y!A? Probably about 50%. But really, I have no scientific research to back this up.

Q. How long until my submission gets posted?

A. This depends on how many submissions I get. If your submission followed the guidelines, and it has been 3 weeks since you submitted, please send me a message about it.

Q. Where did you get the idea to start this tumblelog?

A. I’d seen people post screenshots of funny Y!A before, and we’d joke about how someone should start a tumblelog to feature them. One day I decided that I might as well be the one to do it. And here we are!

Q. You’ve said before that you don’t necessarily find all the things you post funny. So why do you post them?

A. I may moderate this site, but I rarely find the content that goes on it anymore. This site is a reflection of the people that read it. While I may not find something funny about a post, the person who submitted it might have.

There is also another possibility. I recently posted a submission about dolphin meat that really offended someone, and I posted their response on my page. The original poster of the submission wrote this to me, and I think it makes some sense. “ i submitted it not cuz i thought eating dolphin is funny,  but because i was surprised someone could be stupid enough to ask something like that  and because the person who asked it said it in such a idiotic way. i didn’t think it was funny, i thought it was shocking and stupid.“

Please note, the tag line of the site says, "Highlighting the best (and worst) that the people of the Yahoo! Answers community have to offer”. It doesn’t say anything about highlighting the funniest.
