A strong earthquake has hit the North of Italy shortly after 9 am this morning. The quake was distinctly felt from the Lombardy to the Veneto regions and was centered in the Po valley near the Reggio Emilia Province. In Milan, some buildings were evacuated and many people have poured into the streets downtown, especially in Piazzale Lugano and Piazza Cordusio. Many schools have been temporarily evacuated.
