Growing up right down the road from FHU, Anna Marie Wyatt did not want to come to FHU, but after experiencing the welcoming nature of the university, her mind was quickly changed. As her time at FHU progressed, her once simple doodles in her notebook have inspired her to make a career out of her talents.
Your Gifts: His Glory – Keith Mattix
Keith Mattix is a Computer Science major with a passion for using artificial intelligence for social good. He has seen how it can be used to aid hurricane relief efforts and has worked to create his own artificial intelligence network through our a.i. course on campus. He continues his work and research, so that one day people can use if to further God’s kingdom by helping those in need.

FHU Bible student Thomas Yukich desires to become a pulpit minister. Yukich originally chose FHU because of its small class sizes but has become grateful for relationships built both inside and out of the classroom leading to internship opportunities.
Your Gifts: His Glory – Sarah Johnson
Sarah Johnson, an FHU Bible and interactive digital design student, is the daughter of a former FHU missionary-in-residence. Being raised in a missionary family, Johnson has used her life experiences to help her grow academically at Freed-Hardeman by writing and participating in University Scholars’ Day, a campus-wide celebration of scholarship and academic achievement.

FHU Recognizes Retirees for Their Years of Service to the University
Henderson, Tennessee – (April 17, 2024) – Freed-Hardeman University recently celebrated five longstanding members of its faculty and staff in recognition of their upcoming retirements. Dr. Tom DeBerry, Mrs. Karen Hobbs, Dr. Gary McKnight, Mr. Clarence McNeal and Dr. David Powell, together representing a combined 129 years of service to the university, were honored during a special chapel presentation and reception Wednesday, April 10.
Faculty, Staff and Student Body Select Nominees for Titles of Mr. and Miss FHU
Henderson, Tennessee – (April 16, 2024) – Freed-Hardeman University has announced the eight student finalists who have been nominated for the titles of Mr. and Miss FHU. These young men and women have been chosen by their faculty, staff and fellow students because of their positive influence, involvement, leadership and academic abilities. Nominees will be honored with a reception Thursday, April 25, at 9 a.m., in the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center, and winners will be announced at 10:30 a.m. during a special chapel presentation in Loyd Auditorium.
FHU English Scholars Celebrate Black History, Women’s History Month
Henderson, Tennessee — (April 10, 2024) — Professors on Poetry combined the celebration of Black History and Women’s History Month with a discussion of Afrofuturism through poetry, musicians, artists and writers led by professors Neil Segars, Loren Warf and Derrick Spradlin.
