Argyle Locomotive Works was established by Gordon Watson in the early ’90s as a bespoke and batch builder of miniature steam locomotives in gauges ‘O’ and ‘1’ for garden railways. Product lines from other manufacturers such as Roundhouse, Accucraft, Aster, Sunset Valley track were introduced and in 2010 Michael Ragg took on ‘Sales’ while Gordon continues to provide technical support.

Accucraft Trains (USA)

Accucraft Trains was formed in 1994 in Mountain View, California. They produce an extensive range model locomotive (Live Steam and Electric), rolling stock, accessories and track in a selection of scales for gauge 1 track. Live steam locos have appeared in 1:32, 1:20.3, 1:19 and 1:13.7 scale, covering everything from diminutive 0-4-0s to massive 4-8-8-4 UP ‘Big Boys’!

Accucraft UK Ltd. (UK)

Accucraft UK Ltd was formed in 2004 by Ian and Sandy Pearse. Ian has over 40 years’ experience in garden railways and a strong development relationship with Accucraft Trains. Their models are mainly of British origin (Live Steam and Electric) with rolling stock to match in the scales 1:32, 1:20.3 and 1:19.

Established in 1975, Aster has been producing steam locomotive kits to the very highest standard. The kits assemble into quality models with superb appearance and performance to match. Argyle Loco Works is the importer & distributor for the Australia and Oceania region.

Roundhouse has been manufacturing live steam locomotives for ‘G’ Scale, SM45 & SM32 since 1982. Their reputation for reliable, simple to operate, hardworking engines and excellent customer support is well established. Some of their more popular models are available in kit form.

Founded in 1978 by Manfred Regner this family business produce a range of steam models including locomotives in 45mm gauge, steam tractors, steam boats, boilers , stationary steam units and a variety of small parts. Their models are available in both Ready to Run and as Kits.

Manufacturing live steam models since 1936, the company continues to supply a full range of steam models including locomotives, rolling stock, road vehicles, stationary steam plant and kits. While still producing the models familiar to previous generations, new designs are being introduced.

MAXITRAK (UK)

Maxitrak was founded in the summer of 1978. Today they offer a wide range of miniature road and rail locomotives in ‘Garden’ and ‘Ride On’ scales. Argyle is pleased to stock a selection of their smaller models in 1/16th (¾”/ ft) scale through to 1/8th (1.5”/ ft) scale.

Aus-Scene Models (Australia)

A family owned business based on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne, Aus-Scene manufactures precision laser cut kits. They
are easily built with a few basic hobby tools and have easy step by step instructions. Aus-Scene is our preferred supplier for the VR narrow gauge ‘Puffing Billy’ rolling stock kits in 1:19 scale.

Sunset Valley Railroad. (USA)

Sunset Valley Railroad offer a comprehensive range of code 250 (1/4″ inch high rail) model railroad track system in 45mm and 32mm gauge. Suitable for 1:32, 1:20.3, 1:22.5 and 1:19 scales for both Garden and Indoor Railroads. Their products include track, switches, and a pneumatic switch operating system.

PECO (UK)

PECO commenced trading in 1946 and is now in its third generation. PECO Streamline SM-32 code 200 track is made to a scale of 16mm/foot and is 32mm gauge, the scale equivalent of a two foot gauge railway. Available as ‘Flex-Track’ that can be formed into straight and curved sections or as ‘Setrack’ in standard radius curves.

The Summerlands Chuffer is a highly developed and precision engineered chuff pipe that can bring the real sound of a working steam loco to your 16mm and G Scale railway. It amplifies and enhances the sound of the exhaust steam and has the additional benefit of directing the oil and water downwards when starting.
