In pictures: Ultrabooks and Windows 8 reign at Computex show
Computex Taipei is the largest computer expo in Asia - and until it ends on Saturday, thousands of consumers will be roaming the exhibition halls, expected to place orders worth up to $28bn (£18bn).
Many computer manufacturers are presenting ultra-thin notebook PCs - ultrabooks - equipped with different features to attract consumers.
Ultrabooks may be what many are talking about - but features such as gesture control and voice recognition will be the main focus of attention in ultrabooks in 2013, said senior vice president of the world's biggest chipmaker, Intel, Tom Kilroy.
Besides computers, there are other gadgets at the show as well - such as this so-called Ring Presenter, by Genius. The company says it is the world’s first ring-style wireless thumb cursor controller that can be an alternative to a traditional computer mouse, and handy during, for instance, a presentation.
The majority of devices unveiled so far at the expo run the new Windows 8 operating system, which is yet to be released by Microsoft. The operating system is touch-enabled and has been designed for tablets, notebooks and other hand-held devices. (Note: the smartphone in this photo does not run Windows 8 OS)
Trying to be different, some firms have come up with original features - for instance, a Taiwanese computer manufacturer Asus presented the Transformer Book, a laptop that transforms into a tablet once its screen is detached. It runs both Windows 8 OS when used as a laptop and Android when it is in its tablet form.
Several developers presented all-in-one computers - such as this All-in-one PC series 7 by Samsung. There have been numerous attempts to add the touchscreen functionality to desktop computers, but so far it has not really taken off.
Also known as Taipei International Information Technology Show, Computex Taipei has become one of the largest computer and technology fairs in the world.
