Sacre Coeur is beautiful and the walk to the top is really worthwhile if a little tiring ( 300 steps) but The views are amazing. Montmarte is a delightful spot and you could spend ages watching the artists at work, and then dinner on Place du Tertre . The Notre Dame Cathedral needs another day and is really interesting ( again you don't need to climb to the top here if you have been up the Sacre Coeur) and the Eiffel ) . The Eiffel Tower was terrific and again well worth the views from the top. Perhaps the very best thing is the night trip on the Seine. It only takes an hour but Paris by night looks wonderful and the guide on the boat was brilliant as were the recordings telling us where we were and what we were looking at. Finally if you have time walk around the smaller island in the Seine, it has...

I had a wonderful stay at the accommodation, far cosier and pleasant than the usual hotels. Had a great walk also: first up to Av. Mozart, than towards Passy Plaza for a coffee stop. Next towards Pont de Bir-Hakeim via some wonderful little alleyways and typical Parisian steps down towards the river. From Bir-Hakeim a priceless view on the Eiffeltower, and continued walking in the middle of the Seine following Allée des Cygnes. Time for a great bite in the Beaugrenelle center, and back to the apartment again. Best afternoon in Paris for ages, and very do-able on your own.
If you go to the left coming out of the Square La Fontaine, and continue towards the metro station "Michel-Ange-Auteuil, you'll find multiple nice and accessible restaurants. Again, I was on my own (work ... work ...), so it is nice to be able ...

Because of a personal interest we  visited the National Library at the Institut de France on the left bank. What a delight to see a fully functional library from the 1600's being used by young people with laptops and others simply reading. It is a historic treasure. Place des Vosges has a wonderful story behind it and is so beautiful as well as the Marais. Laying on the grass in the sunshine was a simple treat.  Musee Jacquemart-Andre was a stunning mansion and had a very good free audio guide. Lovely things in the gift shop also.
And as a Parisian requirement, taking a long lunch and coffee on a sidewalk cafe is always a delight for us. The retail store Colette is a must to see what's happening in the trendy world.

We are more of 'meal at home' type of people and so only ate a lunch out onc...

Jacques and Martine!! They're the most fantastic B&B hosts. They went out of their way to be accommodating.

The Eiffel Tower. From an engineering perspective it's a magnificant structure. I couldn't stop looking up at it from below. Then seeing it lit up at night was breath-taking. When I went to Paris as a teenager I thought I was too cool to go to the Eiffel Tower. I'm glad I went this time.

There was good Italian food close to the B&B but I don't remember the name of the restaurant. Both my grandmother and I enjoyed the food. She had eggplant parmesian and I had salmon in cream sauce with noodles. The service was faster than I've ever had at a restaurant anywhere in Europe. The price was very reasonable too.

It was interesting staying with a Parisian family and becoming acquainted with their way of life. Marais for cheap local shopping, Champs Elysess and Galeries Lafayette for branded shopping. Tourist sites visited included Sacre Coure, Pigalle, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Louvre. This was not my first visit to Paris and I had already seen some of these places before. We also made a day excursion to Fontainebleau to visit the famous chateau.

We had a particularly memorable dinner at Chez Gabrielle (located near Ternes metro station), which served awesome French cuisine at perfectly reasonable prices. The hostess was able to converse fluently in English and was patient in explaining the menu to us. I had foie gras and grilled fish with figs, which was fantastic. There was also a delectable range of desserts which my friends and I also sa...
