What is an ITIN? These are identification numbers for resident and nonresident alien taxpayer who have United States tax return filing and payment responsibilities but are not eligible to receive Social Security numbers. Jerry Kling & Company, Inc. has entered into a Certifying Acceptance Agreement ("CAA") with the IRS.
This Agreement allows us to prepare the IRS form W-7, Application for Individual Taxpayer Number ("ITIN") for applicants. Normally persons applying for an ITIN will have to submit original documents to the IRS such as passports. The IRS can hold these original documents up to 7 weeks [the normal average processing time] to process the application before returning them to the applicants. That may be very inconvenient for the applicants. After examining your original documents such as passports, we have the authority to accept them or reject them on behalf of the IRS ITIN office.
As CAA's we are authorized agents of the IRS ITIN office and we can issue a Certificate of Accuracy ("CoA") which we send to the IRS along with your Form 7 application. That means no original passports need to be sent to the IRS for yourself or your spouse when you engage us to prepare the ITIN request for you. As a CAA we have a direct line to the ITIN office in Austin, Texas and can quickly resolve any problems with them. Call us to discuss our fees.
We would love to hear from you!
