Quote to Inspire: There's a wall between you and what you want, and you've got to leap it." -- Bob Dylan.
- Happy May! The month of May is kind of like a pre-chorus to summer (at least for those of us in the Western Hemisphere). Our imaginations and hearts are lifting toward sunny possibilities. Songwriters, keep up the great work! You continue to impress us with your continuous efforts to learn and develop by taking live song feedback courses, submitting your first drafts and re-writes for song evaluations, and putting your songs out in the world on our pitching page to learn more about this competitive industry. Thank you all for creating a caring and encouraging community of peers. By the way, your song-evaluation Coaches and live FDBK course instructors want you to know that they also feel supported and valued by your appreciative and often glowing "thank You" notes and live class evaluations. Here's to a new month to climb toward our goals.
A Round of Applause to the writers whose songs were featured in the April Spotlight Members Playlist. This playlist, themed "It's a Wonderful World: Songs about Nature," not only showcases their work but also provides a unique opportunity for you to connect with your peers and potentially find co-writers. We encourage you to listen to this playlist and explore the diverse talent within our community.
Drumroll, Please ... The Special Event Pitch: Staff Writer for a Day winner was announced at The Big Reveal. Derek James's song "So Far So Bueno" caught the ear of Young Music City co-founder Emily Dryburgh and cinched the pro co-write session with major-label artist Chad Michael Jervis. Congratulations to all the contenders! And a shout-out to those who courageously submitted your songs to this industry challenge but did not make the contenders list this time. Believing in yourself and persistence are the keys to succeeding in this (and any) business. You can listen to Derek's winning song and ALL of the 38 Rising Star Award songs written by 21 different songwriters.
General Registration Reminders: You may have two Active Live songwriting feedback courses (FDBK) at one time but can add a third if there is still an open spot 24 hours before the class starts. Check your Activity page live songwriting course schedule in case someone cancels during the week and a seat opens up. New to SongU? Welcome! Check out the FAQ Quick Start Guide for an overview of how to begin.
Welcome International Members! When selecting live courses, please consider those that are GMT-friendly, scheduled at 1 pm ET during the week and between Noon and 3pm ET on Saturdays. Sign up on the Live Courses page.
