Blue Community

Blue Communities

We invite you to become a part of the global movement for water justice by joining the Blue Communities Project, which provides communities with the tools to fight water privatization and promote the human right to water. Through the project, we work with local governments, community activists and water operators to ensure water justice for all.

The Right to Water

We support grassroots struggles to protect democratic, public and community control of water, calling on governments everywhere to provide clean, safe water in as required by the UN Human Right to Water and Sanitation resolution. Passed on July 10, 2010, the resolution recognizes access to clean water as “essential for the full enjoyment of the right to life.”

Water Commons

We believe that water should be viewed as part of a global commons – available to all and protected from misuse and harm to ensure its availability for future generations. Water must not been understood as a commodity that can be bought and sold on the market, but as a social and public good that no one owns, shared equitably for the public good.
